About Our Practice

Welcome To Our Office At the present time our office consists of ten highly-trained staff. We are continually expanding to meet the needs of our patients. Dr. Gene Messenger is happily married and has two children. He graduated from the University of Tennessee. He has extensive post-graduate training in esthetic and cosmetic dentistry. Originally from Rome, NY, he has been practicing in North Adams since 1993. Dr. Messenger has advanced training in CAD-CAM and has a Fellowship in Lasers. He is currently training other dentists in Laser and CAD-CAM dentistry. He is a member of WCLI and attends continuing education classes regularly. Besides his love of dentistry, he is an avid movie-watcher and enjoys going to the beach. The front office personnel consists of Teresa and Jen. They will schedule appointments and can give you information regarding the financial aspect of your treatment. Teresa is the office manager. As Dr. Messenger's former dental assistant, she has a thorough knowledge of dental practices as well as all office procedures. Jen also works at the front desk and can help answer any questions you may have. She cheerfully calls you with a confirmation the day before your appointment. Our hygienists are Sue, Laurie and Val. They are continually educated on the newest technology and each is highly skilled. They will make your visit a pleasant one. Sue graduated from the McCann dental assisting program in 1978. She worked for several years as an assistant before graduating from HVCC in 1982. She joined our staff in 2004. Laurie also graduated from Hudson Valley Community College in 1993. She has been working here as a full-time hygienist since 2004 also. Val is our newest addition to the hygiene staff. She is a recent graduate of Springfield Technical Community College. The dental assistants, Jen, Tammy and Barb will help make your dental work quick and painless. Patients of all ages are cared for by our trained assistants. Jen graduated from McCann Technical/Vocational in 1998. She is our "Bleaching Specialist". She can inform you of the various bleaching options available. Tammy specializes in the use of the CEREC. She can answer any questions you may have on this technical equipment. Barb returned to our office after expanding her dental assisting experience. She graduated from the Charles H. McCann Dental Assisting program in 1995 as a certified dental assistant. While not highly visible, our Bookkeeper/Human Resource Administrator; Marie, helps to keep the practice running smoothly. Marie has been the payroll clerk for over 18 years. Her duties include marketing and human resources as well as helping out at the front desk.
